Now in a new edition updated through the unprecedented 2016 presidential election, this provocative book makes a compelling case for a hidden “deep state” that influences and often opposes official U.S. policies. Prominent political analyst Peter Dale Scott begins by tracing America’s increasing militarization, restrictions on constitutional rights, and income disparity since World War II. With the start of the Cold War, he argues, the U.S. government changed immensely in both function and scope, from protecting and nurturing a relatively isolated country to assuming ever-greater responsibility for controlling world politics in the name of freedom and democracy. This has resulted in both secretive new institutions and a slow but radical change in the American state itself. He argues that central to this historic reversal were seismic national events, ranging from the assassination of President Kennedy to 9/11.
Scott marshals compelling evidence that the deep state is now partly institutionalized in non-accountable intelligence agencies like the CIA and NSA, but it also extends its reach to private corporations like Booz Allen Hamilton and SAIC, to which 70 percent of intelligence budgets are outsourced. Behind these public and private institutions is the influence of Wall Street bankers and lawyers, allied with international oil companies beyond the reach of domestic law. Undoubtedly the political consensus about America’s global role has evolved, but if we want to restore the country’s traditional constitutional framework, it is important to see the role of particular cabals—such as the Project for the New American Century—and how they have repeatedly used the secret powers and network of Continuity of Government (COG) planning to implement change. Yet the author sees the deep state polarized between an establishment and a counter-establishment in a chaotic situation that may actually prove more hopeful for U.S. democracy.

This book can give usefull research into some of the players and corporations involved in the “Deep State,” but fails to show how they are orchestrated by an even deeper state. The Illuminatti and Zionism (an important tool of the Illuminatti) are not mentioned. When key material is left out it makes me think this book is some COINTELPRO project.

Peter Dale Scott unloads a lot of info. He is a left wing type. the COG who cares on that part. Come on. However, as a history and explanation of the Deep State. Flawless The Deep State exist. This book is a must read. Learn it. Scott is wrong to go after Trump. Also he could have gone a bit deeper. However, he is quite a good writer. This is again a must read.

Professor Scott sticks to the facts, just the provable facts, no opinions here. You make up your own mind. But the facts he lays bare, are gruesome testimony to how far we have fallen. It is not an easy read.People are only now just waking up.Professor Scott has been sounding the alarm for 40 years. This country was never a Democracy, we were Federal Republic, but we are no longer that either. That cancer started 1947 when Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947 making the OSS, the CIA. Their only charter was to provide the President with intelligence. Not 7 years later they were disposing foreign leaders and over-throwing democratically elected governments and completely out of control of POTUS. Fast forward to November 22 1963… the day our Republic died along with the great man.This book focuses on the events of 911. It stinks like yeasterday’s diapers.

Excellent, if you want to really understand the daily news … you need to read this book. You will then stop watching the news, because now you will understand the ‘deeper’ structure behind all ‘terror war’ events. Explains how the US govt of militarism, warrant-less wiretaps, warrant-less detentions, is based on a history of bureaucrats who have ignored the laws of their own govt, beginning with FBI Chief J. Edgar Hoover in … 1936. This lawlessness became more intense starting int he 1980s, with US govt efforts plans to survive an all-out nuclear attack, coordinated by none other than Cheny and Rumsfeld. Well worth waiting for this updated edition. Fully one third of the book are citations.

Deep State Driven By One Party?
Scott lays out some very interesting theories. Many I’m sure are clear evidence of a functioning deep state. As I read through chapter after chapter, one question kept popping up: How is it conceivable that, for all these years, the deep state has been run by only one political party? Is it not reasonable to conclude that true deep state power is wielded by those beyond political affiliations? It’s clearly feasible the rulers of the deep state may originally been members of both major parties. The raison d’etre of America’s deep state is pure power and control not politics.
